Dogs

My kids REALLY want a dog.  I always tell them we have Wesley so we don't need a dog.  John told them if they ever wanted something that was way out of their price range then they could write an essay on why they want it.  If the essay was persuasive enough then he might consider it.  The kids decided that meant they could just write a paper and then they would have a dog by October.  John had to later clarify but they wrote some pretty cute "essays".

Esther's:

Dad,
I really want a dog (puppy.)   Because I want to learn how to be responsible for a pet. And dogs take a lot of work. So I am going to practice and practice with other dogs. Then I will be ready to have my own dog. If I practice and practice I am hoping that I will be able to get a dog.

I will have a none snoring sleeping partner! (Yippeeeeee.)
I am hoping I can prove myself to you to earn a dog. If I prove myself and if you pay for the dog while you are reading this I promise to save up for all the other stuff. I would also like a dog because we have somebody to watch our house while we are gone so we have no robbers or anything. I will watch the dog take for walks let him do his business and all that other stuffy stuff.

I would have lots of love for a dog even if it doesn’t look very good. I care how the dog acts not how it looks if I can’t prove myself (IF) I will let you give the dog back even if I love it to pieces!  I would probably cry for a few hours but eventually I would get over it. Dad if you don’t except this essay I will probably be very disappointed but I love you anyway.

Another reason I would like a dog is for Wesley. Wesley absolutely loves rocky and probably any other dog. Everybody would thank you 10000000000000000000 times!  I want a dog because Lucy, Isaac want one soooo bad. I have been following along with their ideas but I have gotten into it too!

Dad I hope this essay will be good enough for you. This is the longest essay I have ever done. I hope you enjoy this essay.  Love you to pieces!

Then here is Lucy's.  She wrote about 12 pages so here are a few excerpts.

Last but not least, Isaac's essay dictated to Esther.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this!!! Her essay convinced me. :) What a good little writer you have on your hands. And I just love her honesty ("I would probably be disappointed and cry for a few hours but I would still love you"). I hope the next post is the picture of the puppy :) - with the kids. :)
