The Long Christmas Break

I left for Utah on the 15th of December to visit my family. Plane tickets are expensive so I usually like to go for a good chunk of time to make that purchase worthwhile. Overall we had a good holiday and I'll post some pictures showing some good times. But I just have to tell you about the first week there--it was HORRIBLE. The day before I left Lucy got an ear infection so the doctor put her on an antibiotic since we were traveling soon. After a few days in Utah and three long sleepless nights (I do NOT function well without sleep, just ask my husband) we realized that the antibiotic wasn't working so my cousin's husband Dr. Forbush was so nice to call another one in for us. After one more sleepless night Lucy FINALLY started feeling better. As I was about to take a big sigh of relief Esther starts getting a cough. This was not just a little cough--it was a major cough!!! She used to get these horrible asthmatic coughs all the time but she hadn't had one in a year until this week before Christmas. Just to give you the real gruesome picture--she coughs so hard she dry heaves and sometimes she throws up. It is the WORST to hear her coughing like that. It is emotionally and physcally wearing to see your kids sick and on top of that to worry that your immuno-suppressed mom is going to get super sick from your kids--it all equals an extremely stressful bad week. I think the Lord was still blessing me though because despite Lucy constantly "snotting" all over me and Esther coughing up major germs all over me I did not get sick the entire break! The other blessing was that not only did I not get sick but my mom did not get sick the whole time I was there! Two true Christmas miracles!!!
