Fun words

We recently got Esther some new flip flops since it's starting to really warm up here in California. But they are not flip flops to Esther, they are "flip glosses." Since John and I have laughed about this a few times and asked her to say flip flops a few times she has actually evolved in her pronunciation and no she says "flip glops." I think it's more fun to say "flip glops" anyway. Rambling on, there are definitely some words that are more fun to say then others. "Beverage" is one of John's favorite. One time my younger brother Dan was supposed to speak in church and during the morning of we were sitting around eating breakfast and Sam and I decided to give him a challenge involving some of our "fun" words. I cannot recall exactly what we bet him or dared him with but Sam challenged him to include the word "debacle" in his talk and I told him he needed to include the word "shrubbery." Dan is no chicken so he took the dare and easily accomplished it with some sentence like, "I was walking by a shrubbery one day and I thought about blah blah blah.. and what a debacle!" Sam and I were rolling and my mom gave us the "you're in trouble" glare. It was priceless. I really do love vocabulary and if I could just remember all the words I have learned I would have an impressive extensive vocabulary. Reader's Digest has a great vocab page every month and thanks to my mom I get that every month. It's a perfect bathroom reader at our house. Wow, I am really going on and on. Let me just end with my favorite word of the day: lackluster. It's fun to say and that's kind of how I feel today.

What a fun memory. I love Esther. She is one of the funniest children on the planet. I want to know what a lucklaster is. Is that the word?

That is so funny! Our Sam calls flip flops "clip clops". Cute stories, Katie!
