We had a pretty good weekend despite Esther being a little "sickie." She had a high fever for a few days. John gets pretty stressed and worried when she is sick and half jokingly/half seriously blurted out one night, "Is she going to die?" Esther heard and a couple minutes later asked, "Am I dying?" I gave John the maximum glare and then told her no, of course you are not dying. The next day she asked if Lucy or Mommy was dying. No, no one is dying. Anyway, there are many reasons it was a good Saturday. The day started off with intentions for an early morning run with my friend but we had to cancel due to an insane amount of wind. Yes, the wind and that's not just an excuse. I was pretty happy about that since Lucy and Esther had been up during the night. Other good things included a trip to the Farmers market, buying a bunkbed, lunch with the Thompsons, little naps, reading my book during NBA playoffs, and planting flowers in pots with my girls (in the garage because it was too windy to do it outside). But that's not why it was a
great weekend... John and I actually got out on a date! It was pretty overdue. I told John my main goal for the night was just to sit at a restaurant and eat slowly and quietly enjoy the conversation. Being a mommy makes it so hard to ever do that. For example, for lunch we met Stu and Beth at Chipotle (they just opened in Manteca!) and while I LOVE their burritos I can hardly remember eating it due to the fact that Lucy didn't feel much like sitting so I had to wolf down my burrito in warp speed. It was completely opposite at our dinner at a new Japanese place. It was wonderfully relaxing. It's what really made the date, not the fact that I beat John in skeeball four straight times. I sure love that guy. Every weekend is a great weekend that I get to spend with him. Almost every day that John goes to work Esther asks, "Why does Daddy have to go to work?" I usually say something about the need for food, shelter and clothing. So the other day when Esther asked John this question she answered it on her own, "Oh yeah, so we can buy food and cheesesticks." Johns said, "Yes, I go to work so we can buy cheesesticks." Thank you daddy for bringing home the bacon... and the cheesesticks.

I just found your blog through Yanery's and it was fun to read through and get to know you better a liitle bit, and yes the wind was crazy, our free standing bench swing was completely knocked over and moved a few feet.
Yahoo!!!!!! I'm so glad you got out on a date, it is amazing how refreshing it is to be out alone together. Wow. And, your comments lately on the wind factor there crack me up.
I'm so glad you finally had alone time with your sweet hubbie. You guys deserve it! (AND I'm relieved to hear Esther is not dying.)
Tell me more about the bunk beds! Where did you get them? We need some too.

He only spoke on budgeting and food storage but it was still so good. he even told us about pork and beans on toast with cheese, i didn't know if you knew this but my family also grew up with this, i love it!
