A visit from Papa, Grandma, and Uncle Lige

My Dad had a seminar this past weekend in San Francisco so we were able to have a little visit with him, my mom, and my brother. Esther was so excited she jumped up and down and held her breath for five seconds straight. On Friday I met them in the city, after having my temporary crown re-glued ( I flossed it off accidentally after wearing if for only 8 hours). We planned on going to the Academy of the Sciences but after driving around for twenty minutes looking for a parking spot and seeing a massive line in front of the building we decided to head elsewhere. If you know my dad you would know that he has crowd-a-phobia. Instead we happened upon a San Francisco Zoo sign and decided to venture there. Wow, what a zoo. I think one-fourth of the cages were empty or closed, another one-fourth of the cages only exhibited an animal "behind", and the rest of the animals seemed to be in a state of hibernation. The most exciting moment was seeing a grizzly bear walk in some water or the lemurs weren't too bad either. I forgot my camera is BROKEN so I only had three pictures that semi-turned out. Try not to notice the horrible exposure.

After the zoo we went to the beach but it was also impossible to find a parking place close to the sand. We parked at this rocky point and got out to see how close we were and I found a perfect sand dollar--I've been looking for one of those my whole life!! It was closer to the street then the ocean but still! I love beach combing so it was a pretty exciting moment for me. After the beach viewing we were still trying to avoid rush hour traffic so we headed to the wharf. We couldn't pass by Steve and Barry's (it was my first time) and they had some cute stuff. Grandma bought Esther a pretty red Christmas skirt that she is very excited about. She loves pretty things!! Finally, we were on our way home. Esther told my parents about five times how amazing her room is and how excited she was to show them. Of course, she also had to put on her Halloween costume for display. It is so pink, fluffy and sparkly that I think she has a huge crush on it if you can't tell.

On Saturday, my poor family, Lige got recruited to help move someone in with John. My dad mowed our back lawn and pulled weeds, and my mom cleaned up inside. They are always so good to help but I felt bad because this was supposed to be their vacation! We went to In and Out for lunch and had to call Dan to rub it in, of course. Then we went to the mall and got some ice cream and the girls got to ride the carousel. It was a nice day and it only too soon they had to leave to go back. It was SO NICE to see family again. My girls were in heaven this weekend!

Kate I'm so glad that your parents were able to visit with you. I don't know how you survive without having them nearby. I seriously make the drive up to Farmington each week to watch Spencer and Sam play Football and to see our Maddox. It looks like you had a blast, and that picture of Esther in her ballet getup is Fantastic!
