Our Affectionate Girls
John and I are starting to wonder if we'll ever get another undisturbed night's sleep. At least once a night, one of the girls wakes up. Last night, Esther woke up around 3 AM. I went in to see what the matter was and she insisted on speaking to Daddy. I'm not much for trying to reason with Esther in the wee hours of the morning so I shook John awake. He went in there and Esther said to him, "Daddy, I had Mommy get you because I wanted to tell you that I love you." John almost lost it but what can you do when your little girl wants to express her sweet feelings in the middle of the night. At least he got to go right back to bed. Lucy woke up an hour later crying. I went in and gave her a drink and a little rock and put her back down. Ten minutes later she was up again crying so I stomped into her room again and she told me she wanted a kiss. My heart melted ever so briefly and I gave her a kiss and told her to go to sleep. What's with the middle-of-the-night affection??? Lucy ended up getting up a couple more times and finally I gave in and put her in our bed (completely against our rules). Fatigue often gets the better of us. I guess it's better to have our girls waking up for love then for fear.

I like your idea of putting them in the same room. Once they get used to the new roomie situation, they can give each other hugs and kisses in the middle of the night and leave the 'rents out of it! I know how you feel though - I've just BARELY got my girls to both sleep through the night. They've been doing the alternating thing as well. It's lovely.
Kate,
It's Hayley. How the heck are ya? I haven't talked to you in forever! You guys seem to be doing well which is awesome, well--besides the late nights with the girls-ha,ha,hee.
I LOVE IT!!! Your girls are hilarious! I love the idea of middle of the night affection. They are so sweet! I do, however, hope that your nights get much bettter.
I'm glad i'm not the only when getting up at night. I'm pretty sure it will never end until they are out of the home.
