In our world
This week Esther has been learning about the difference between reality and animation. It all started when we were watching 30 minute meals (since I've been feeling less then great that is how we fill our down time though usually not with Rachel Ray because she's not very relaxing). At the end of the show Esther said, "It's too bad she's not in our world so then we could taste her food." I told her that Rachel Ray was in fact in our world. At first she tried to argue with me but then I explained to her that Rachel Ray lives somewhere in our country and she goes to a place where they film her and then put it on television. So the rest of this week she's been asking clarifying questions such as: "So, are Backyardigans in our world?" "Is Angelina (ballerina) in our world?" I explained to her that anything cartoon or animated is NOT real or in our world. It's so funny to see the little wheels turn in her head. She is still the girl with a hundred questions. I introduced her to some Les Miserables music the other day and tried to explain some parts of the story in very simple terms... big mistake... she has probably asked about fifty questions already just about Les Mis and usually it's right during the music which makes it hard to hear and less pleasurable to answer. I guess I should be glad she's enjoying the music as much as I am.
