Dickey Lake 2015

The kids had their first day of school and then the next morning at 4 am we left for Dickey lake.  We couldn't miss a chance to spend time with cousins and the beautiful lake.  It was a long drive but we were so excited to get there in time for fun on the lake.  The Spackmans are always the nicest hosts and we all had such a great time.  There was a little drama with the sinking of the ski boat and a looming forest fire but we managed to stay pretty smoke free and still had lots of water fun.

Grandpa Bob and Wes having some bonding time.

Wes LOVED the water guns although I'm pretty sure he didn't ever manage to shoot one by himself.

Isaac would have stayed in the hot tub all day if we let him.  This was his favorite place.

The girls both got a chance to try water skiing and Auntie Lisa was a great coach getting in the water with them and teaching them over and over.

All the kids loved tubing!  They could have done it for hours but eventually the driver would get tired.  The cool thing was my kids were not as scaredy-cat as they have been in the past so they wanted and did try everything making it a really fun experience!

Wes did enjoy jet skiing with dad even after the traumatic experience of being on the boat that sank.

I made Lucy take a picture of me and Janine after a conversation about looking back at scrapbooks and sometimes it seems we were almost not on the vacation because we are always the ones taking the pictures.  Unfortunately Janine's eyes were not open. :)  Next time!

Did I mention how awesome my sister in-laws are?  They were so great to coach and teach the girls how to water ski.

They were such great coaches that Lucy got up on the first time!!!  And she stayed up for a while!  We were all shocked but she was a natural.  She got up the second time she tried too.

The kids really enjoyed the paddle boards too.  I think Drew knocked Esther off at least 15 times but she kept getting back on with him so I think she was having fun.

All the kids loved the hot tub.  It was a good cousin bonding place.

The tube also provided for some good bonding.  And this has a good shot of the forest fire in the background.  Scary.  Thank goodness the wind was blowing the opposite way from us.
Cousins..  sigh..  how we wish they lived closer.  The kids miss having their cousins around that are close to their ages.  It's just SO MUCH FUN.  It's always sad when the fun ends.  Until Christmas..

The day we cleaned up and drove home was Isaac's birthday!  Lucky guy!  We made fun though by letting him pick lunch (Mcdonalds) and dinner (Denny's for pancakes) and he got to watch a new movie (Paddington) on the way home.  He loved it.  :)
